Songs of Rebirth Out Now!

Songs of Rebirth has been my passion project for over two years now.

I started writing the music during the height of lockdown in the summer of 2020 while I wondered what the future would hold for me and for the world. It was comforting to create music based on the traditions of rebirth from mythology, poetry, science, and literature.

When composing this music I vowed to write exactly what I felt without being influenced by what might be “cool” or “in vogue.” The resulting songs are really honest reflections from that tenuous moment, equally full of hope and uncertainty, humor and melancholy.

There are two ways you can explore this music:

1) Listen!

The most important way you can support my work is to listen. I don’t create this music for money, fame, or glory. I create it for people to enjoy, reflect upon, and sit with. That means, I create it for you! Click the link below for access to Songs of Rebirth on your favorite platforms.

2) Support the Music with
Premium Experiences

If you’d like to support my music and treat yourself to a premium experience, I’ve created some really lovely options for you.

I can ship you a beautiful two-disc physical album with cover art by our own Nancy Harms. I’ve also created a book with all of the music and lyrics from the session, plus four transcriptions of improvisations from the album. I’ll gladly sign a copy and ship it you!

The two together make a beautiful matching set! They’re available as physical items or digital downloads at my store.

Registration Open for Fall Beginning Jazz Piano Class

Hi everyone!

Due to Covid, I opened my Beginning Jazz Piano class to interested pianists nationwide last year to overwhelming response! I had about 30 new students from all across the country and even one from Canada.

I’m hoping to expand the class even further this semester. If you’ve ever wanted to pursue jazz piano, consider enrolling in the class this Fall.

I’m attaching a FAQ sheet to this post for your reference.

My best,

Jeremy

“Love Will Find A Way” Available through Theodore Presser

🚨 New publication alert! 🚨

The Theodore Presser company has released my solo piano arrangement of Eubie Blake’s composition “Love Will Find A Way,” as conceived by Lara Downes for her “Rising Sun Music” series. Click here to learn more.

“LOVE WILL FIND A WAY is one of the great hits of the 1920’s – an era of remarkable cultural growth giving rise to “The Roaring 20’s,” “The Harlem Renaissance,” and a fun-loving society known for the Charleston dance craze and the surge of jazz into the mainstream of American music. Originally a song from a Broadway show, LOVE WILL FIND A WAY has been arranged by pianist Jeremy Siskind especially for Lara Downes’ recording that launches the Rising Sun series.”

To view all my publications (18 now!), please visit the “Books” section of my site.

You can watch Lara’s beautiful interpretation of the piece below. Enjoy!

Hi folks,

I recently appeared on the “JazzPianoSkills” podcast with Dr. Bob Lawrence. We talked about what it was like for me to take lessons recently, what I consider essential exercises for jazz pianists, and how a classical pianist can begin to start exploring jazz. You can download the episode here.

Then, I was interviewed by Josh Walsh of jazz-library.com for his “Master’s Series.” Josh had me play a spontaneous version of “Moon River” and we talked about how pianists can grow beyond formulas into feeling creative ownership of their performances. Check out the video below.
