New Review from Don Heckman

The “Housewarming Project” just received a quite amazing review from a great write – Don Heckman, who has written for the LA Times, the New York Times, and Downbeat magazine. He calls the “utterly unique” group offered up a “fascinating musical menu.” He says that the performance “reached, in fact, beyond music, into a transformative event in which the players, the music and the location blended into an intimate togetherness, drawing its listeners into a kind of complete experiential participation.”

Two SoCal Concerts: Blue Whale (June 1, LA); KJC Benefit Concert (May 24)

I’m looking forward to coming home to California and presenting two concerts:

On June 1, I’ll be performing with my Housewarming Project at the Blue Whale, LA’s best jazz club, celebrating our new CD, Housewarming. The Housewarming Project is Nancy Harms, Lucas Pino, and myself.

On May 24, join me at the Irvine High School Theater for a special Benefit Concert in support of the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory, which was hard hit by the recent earthquakes. I’ll be joined by lots of great performers: Irvine High School’s Jazz I, LA-based vocalist Susan Krebs, trombonist Joey Sellers, and vibraphonist Norm Freeman. There is a suggested $15 donation for the 4 PM show.

West-Coast Tour

Hi Folks,

The Housewarming Project has our west-coast tour all set-up. We’ll be playing in homes in Arizona, California, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico from May 30-June 14. Check the “Calendar” section for details on when we’re visiting your neighborhood.

Downbeat 4-Star Review!

Jazz bible, Downbeat magazine gave Housewarming four stars in their review, stating that the ensemble has “master[ed] the craft” of “showcas[ing] each player without design or artifice, while emphasizing the music’s detail and nuance” and refers to Housewarming as a “shining example” of chamber jazz.

Early Review from StepTempest

Read the very first review of “Housewarming” on Richard Kamins “Steptempest” blog. Here’s an excerpt:

Housewarming” is an album to savor, lyrics to sit and ponder, vocals that wash through your soul, and music that draws you in.  Give it a number of listens to get the full breadth of the presentation, to begin to understand the hopeful message in the songs, to admire the work of everyone involved.  You will be warmed by what Jeremy Siskind has presented here.
